With the introduction of iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 El Capitan, Apple added a new deployment method for Volume Purchase Program (VPP) apps. In short, devices running Apple's latest iOS 9 or OS X 10.11 can receive apps directly, no Apple ID required.
Any iPads or iPhones running iOS 9 and any Macs running OS X 10.11 El Capitan that enroll into Jamf Now will simply receive VPP apps installed from Jamf Now. While an Apple ID can still be logging in on a device, it is no longer a requirement.
The previous method of assigning VPP apps to a user's Apple ID remains available, and with still be required for iOS 8 and OS X 10.10 devices. The greatest benefit of this Apple ID assignment method is the ability for the user to download a VPP app on multiple devices from the one VPP license.
In shared device scenarios, or situations where you wish to avoid creating an Apple ID strategy, this new deployment method will make it easier than ever to deploy apps directly to a device running iOS 9 or OS X 10.11 El Capitan, no Apple ID required.
