Jamf Now cannot configure email settings until a device is assigned to a name and email address. You can associate a name (and email address when email is turned on in Jamf Now) with a Device Enrollment Program device before a device enrolls or after a device enrolls.
To assign a device to a user before it enrolls through DEP:
1. From the Devices tab, click on DEP and then DEP Devices. You will see a list of all devices from the MDM Server at deploy.apple.com that you've linked to Jamf Now for DEP.
2. Click on the more menu [•••] next to any serial number to Assign that device to a name and email address. Note: Email settings must be configured to assign an email address.
This will configure a user's email settings automatically during initial enrollment.
To assign a device to a user after it enrolls:
1. From the Devices tab, click on the Device you want to assign.
2. Use the "Assigned to" card to "Assign" the device to the name and email address of the appropriate user.
This will configure a user's email settings once the device has been assigned to an email address.
Other important details:
•Email settings will not be sent down to a device until an email address is entered.
•To remove the email configuration from an active device, use the "Assigned to" card and "Unassign" the user information. This will remove email configuration from the device.
