Jamf Now supports a number of restrictions for iOS devices that can help you keep your data secure and your users on task.
Some restrictions require supervising the device. To learn more about supervision, check out our article on supervision.
iOS Restrictions:
- Enable “Managed Open-in"

iOS Restrictions for Supervised Devices Only:
- Disable installing Apps
- App Store is disabled and its icon is removed from the home screen. Users are unable to install or update their applications. You can still install apps using Deploy to Device. (Requires iOS 9)

- Safari is disabled and its icon is removed from the home screen.

- On iPads the Messages app is disabled and icon removed from the home screen.
- On iPhones iMessage is disabled yet SMS texting remains.

- Disable iBooks Store
- The iBookstore is disabled, but iBooks will still be available.

- Disable Podcasts
- Podcasts are disabled and the icon is removed from the home screen.

- Disable News
- The News app is disabled and the icon is removed from the home screen.

- If set to on, causes AirDrop to be considered an unmanaged drop target.

- User is unable to change the device name.

- User can not add, delete, or modify accounts.

- Disable Explicit Content in iTunes
- User is not able to purchase explicit content from iTunes. This includes music, TV shows, and movies.
